As you can see, we recently added solar panels to our roof! We are actually registered with Edison as a "generating facility." Here's the deal... yea, it's expensive, but I'm not spending any money on it, essentially. Since I refinanced my house after finishing my remodel, I included it in the re-fi. My payments went up about $250 a month, but that is equal to my monthly electric bill on the level-pay plan! I'll keep paying the $250 per month to my mortgage company (eith the extra tax write-off) and I won't have to worry about rising electrric rates because I'll be making my own electricity. Plus, this year, there is still a $2000 tax credit for such a project.
In the winter, as I make more electricity than I need, I recieve kW credits which will go toward my summer electric bills. Basically, I'll be covered!
